I thought if Adrian could prove himself, everyone would recover.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you used the trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought the trust would give us credibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou tried to redesign it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou wanted votes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted influence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There it was again.<\/p>\n<p>I asked, \u201cInfluence over me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her answer came immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause you never listen to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I almost responded.<\/p>\n<p>Then Dad did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wasn\u2019t supposed to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Victoria stared at him.<\/p>\n<p>Dad\u2019s voice remained quiet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy trust was not created so you could make Daniel listen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She swallowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo. You knew it then.
