Will he oppose notifying the trustee?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at him.<\/p>\n<p>This was the choice.<\/p>\n<p>The money or the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Malcolm stared at the crib for a long moment.<\/p>\n<p>Then he said, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rachel paused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill you consent to preservation of all relevant account and estate records?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill you refrain from contacting Bell except through your independent lawyer?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malcolm swallowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill you oppose a temporary freeze on the inheritance account while the trustee reviews the competing amendments?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His eyes closed.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining ninety-six thousand.<\/p>\n<p>The property.<\/p>\n<p>Possible clawbacks.<\/p>\n<p>His father\u2019s final judgment.<\/p>\n<p>Our future.<\/p>\n<p>He opened his eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I felt my breath leave.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel said, \u201cTo be clear, you will not oppose the freeze?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will not oppose it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the call ended, Malcolm leaned against the nursery wall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Dad won.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis wasn\u2019t supposed to be a contest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His mouth twisted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For once, the words sounded like he meant them.<\/p>\n<p>Then his laptop chimed.<\/p>\n<p>A new email had arrived.<\/p>\n<p>From the corporate trustee.<\/p>\n<p>Not tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Now.<\/p>\n<p>Subject: URGENT REVIEW \u2013 ARTHUR CALDWELL TRUST.<\/p>\n<p>The message had been sent to Malcolm, Richard Bell, and an address I did not recognize.<\/p>\n<p>We opened it.<\/p>\n<p>The trustee had received an anonymous copy of Arthur\u2019s final amendment that afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Until authenticity and administration were reviewed, all trust activity was suspended.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom was one more sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The trustee had also been provided evidence suggesting prior beneficiary communications may have materially misrepresented family consent.<\/p>\n<p>Malcolm stared at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t send that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither did I.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Only a handful of people possessed enough information.<\/p>\n<p>Elaine.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline.<\/p>\n<p>Linda.<\/p>\n<p>Bell.<\/p>\n<p>And perhaps someone we had not yet identified.<\/p>\n<p>Then I saw the unfamiliar email address copied on the trustee\u2019s message.<\/p>\n<p>The display name was Samuel Price.<\/p>\n<p>Arthur\u2019s neighbor.<\/p>\n<p>The witness who had signed the final amendment.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastestdrama.com\/?p=3010\">Click here to continue reading: PART 20: Arthur\u2019s Witness Explained Why He Contacted the Trustee Himself, and His Story Revealed What Malcolm\u2019s Father Expected After His Death<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard called again before we left the secret house.
