instructions.”

“Yes.”

“He should’ve charged hourly.”

“He did enough damage to our household budget at hardware stores.”

Daniel smiled.

We signed the new estate plan.

Not because death felt imminent.

Because ambiguity had become intolerable.

David and Jenna each received clear explanations.

The trustees were named.

Backup trustees.

Asset structure.

No secret promise of the Craftsman because it no longer existed in my estate.

No property allocated by implication.

Everything written.

Everything revisable.

Everything mine while I remained alive.

I felt lighter afterward.

Then Daniel handed me a separate envelope.

“What’s this?”

“Something from Mark’s counsel.”

I almost refused it.

“He’s not asking to speak to you.”

“Then what?”

“A document recovered during liquidation of his company.”

I opened it.

It was an old photocopy.

Arthur’s handwriting.

A letter I had never seen.

Addressed to Mark.

Near the bottom, Arthur wrote:

If you keep treating David’s future inheritance as security for your loans, I will make sure you never receive a dollar from anything Caitlyn or I built.

I looked at Daniel.

“This is stronger than the other letter.”

“Yes.”

“Mark had this?”

“In his business files.”

“So he saved proof that Arthur told him no.”

“Yes.”

I read the final line.

And if David lets you convince him otherwise, then he will have to learn the expensive way.

My chest tightened.

Arthur had predicted the cost.

Not the fraud.

The lesson.

I folded the letter.

For once, the discovery did not feel like another crisis.

It felt like the last missing piece.

Mark had never misunderstood.

David had never truly been promised.

Sarah had never inherited a legitimate expectation.

The story they told themselves had always required ignoring the clearest person in the room.

Arthur.

And now none of us could claim confusion anymore.

Click here to continue reading: PART 27: With Every Secret Finally Exposed, David Had to Decide Whether Rebuilding His
