Margaret told him you were destroying the family and needed to be frightened into stopping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My voice sounded distant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe sent someone to threaten an eight-year-old and then filed for visitation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is what he claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you prove it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recovered messages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I sat down hard.<\/p>\n<p>The Harlow family had spent years presenting Margaret as the quiet one.<\/p>\n<p>The charitable one.<\/p>\n<p>The polished woman smiling beside hospital donations and scholarship checks.<\/p>\n<p>But when the family began collapsing, she had not protected the children.<\/p>\n<p>She had targeted them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThursday\u2019s hearing,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour attorney should know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m calling her now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before Ramirez ended the call, she added one more thing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCraig.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe messages from Margaret include another instruction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My stomach tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat instruction?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe told Calvin that if intimidation failed, he should find a way to get Rick and Noah back to the lake house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stopped breathing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKidnap them?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe didn\u2019t use that word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat word did she use?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ramirez read directly.<\/p>\n<p>Bring my grandsons home before Craig poisons them against us.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time since this began, the custody case stopped
