No emotional decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still don\u2019t want it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat may ultimately be reasonable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He almost smiled.<\/p>\n<p>Later that night Lily found him in the guest-room hallway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDad?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we moving?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan paused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot Oregon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot Briar Lane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He looked at her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you want to go back?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lily shook her head immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan we stay near school?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNear Marcus?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProbably.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan Scout move too?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From downstairs Marcus shouted, \u201cAbsolutely not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lily smiled.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan called back, \u201cNegotiations remain open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marcus shouted something impolite.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, moving felt different.<\/p>\n<p>Not flight.<\/p>\n<p>Not abduction.<\/p>\n<p>Not secrecy.<\/p>\n<p>A choice discussed openly.<\/p>\n<p>Lily knew.<\/p>\n<p>Lily had input.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing needed to happen before someone else could stop it.<\/p>\n<p>They could look at houses together.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe one with a blue bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe no blue door.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe somewhere the front entrance did not hold the memory of a child staring into a camera and begging her father to see.<\/p>\n<p>Lily leaned against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan the new house have cameras?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan looked down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll around?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf that makes you feel safer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She thought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne at the door.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefinitely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lily nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan understood why.<\/p>\n<p>The doorbell camera no longer meant only terror.<\/p>\n<p>It was also the thing that had believed her without asking questions.<\/p>\n<p>The thing that had carried the truth through the sky.<\/p>\n<p>The thing Claire\u2019s plan had forgotten could reach Nathan even when he was thirty thousand feet away.<\/p>\n<p>The family had tried to teach Lily that distance made her alone.<\/p>\n<p>Everything since had proved the opposite.<\/p>\n<p>And as Part 24 of their long aftermath closed, the first real shape of the future appeared: not restoring what existed before, but building a home where no child would ever be required to keep fear inside in order to preserve the adults around her.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastestdrama.com\/?p=1033\">Click here to continue reading: PART 25: Searching for a New Home Gave Lily Back a Choice, Until One Blue Door Forced Nathan to See What She Was Still Carrying<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police arrested Vanessa the following morning.
